At the Time of Your Study:
Upon arriving at Mid South Sleep Diagnostic Center for your scheduled sleep study, you will be warmly greeted by a professional and friendly technician. They will guide you to your designated room and take the time to explain the entire procedure, ensuring that you feel comfortable and know what to expect throughout the night.
To prepare you for the study, the technician will carefully place leads on your lower legs, chest, and head. These leads are attached to your skin using electrode gel, which has a similar stickiness to an adhesive bandage. If necessary, the technician will also assist you in fitting a mask. Rest assured, none of the equipment used during the study causes any pain or discomfort.
The preparation and mask fitting process typically takes around 30 to 45 minutes, with the lights being turned off at approximately 10 pm. You will have a designated wake-up time between 5 and 6 am the following morning.

Please Note:
Based on guidelines from the Academy of Sleep Medicine and insurance regulations (including Medicare), testing for Obstructive Sleep Apnea typically requires two nights. The first night is dedicated to diagnosing the condition, while the second night is used to determine the appropriate pressure for correcting your apnea and maintaining normal oxygen levels. However, in some cases, these two studies may be combined into one night, known as a Split Study, following specific guidelines and requirements.
